We choose to use teak because it is a solid, hardy, and resilient outdoor timber. So hardy, in fact, that it’s often used in the building of boats and yachts.

Prevention/Protection

Over time teak furniture will show signs of aging, a silver or grey colour. To retain the golden appearance, they require regular cleaning and oil application. If not oiled regularly, the tops will be more susceptible to staining.

We recommend oiling table tops a minimum of every three months depending on exposure to sunlight.

Cintesi only recommends using Intergrain Ultra Deck Oil. It is fast drying, penetrating oil that nourishes and protects the timber, providing a semi-transparent matt finish. This can be purchased from Bunnings or Mitre10.

Exposure to heat sources such as heaters, fireplaces, and other sources of direct heat, can cause timber to crack, split and bow. We recommend referring to the owner’s manual of your heat source to determine safe distances.

Cleaning

Regular cleaning

  1. Use warm, soapy water and cloth.

Stubborn stains

  1. Use a dilution of water and white vinegar.
  2. Lightly scrub using a soft bristle brush in the direction of the grain.

We strongly advise against pressure washing.
