There is nothing quite like the creamy, soft texture of leather, we understand leather furniture is a carefully considered investment purchase.

Prevention/Protection

The sunny spot — a place left to the cat. Be sure to configure your space in a way where direct light isn’t hitting your leather furniture, if this isn’t completely possible, we suggest using a throw blanket over affected areas. Direct light will cause fading, discolouration and drying.

Direct heat will dry out and stiffen leather furniture, so it is important to keep leather away from heaters, radiators, fireplaces, and other sources of heat.

Should your leather furniture succumb to fading or discolouration you can apply Leather re-colouring balm from the Italian Leather company – link to the product here.

Not all chemicals are great for furniture. Household chemical cleaners and detergents may work great in your bathroom and on some kitchen appliances. However, when it comes to furniture, we generally recommend against them. Chemical cleaners can have adverse reactions with natural fibres and materials.

We advise using Pelle Leather Conditioner /Protector every three months to help nourish and protect your leather furniture, we suggest using this in conjunction with Pelle Leather Cleaner.

We always recommend doing a test patch when using any products to clean your leather furniture.

Regular maintenance like wiping and vacuuming the crevices using the fabric attachment or a soft brush head to clean any dry messes will prolong the life of your leather furniture. A reminder: make sure the vacuum head is clean.

Cleaning

Do not use detergents, solvents and abrasives; these may affect the colouring, texture, and durability of the material.

For spills

  1. Start by trying to shake off any excess liquid, if possible.
  2. Once you’ve gotten rid of any excess liquid, take an absorbent cloth and gently dab the spot.
  3. After you’ve absorbed most of the stain, using a damp soft cloth lightly blot the stain,
  4. Let it air dry.
  5. Follow up by cleaning the leather with the Pelle range of leather cleaners and protectors.
