When it comes to furniture, stainless steel is the most popular on the market. Not only is stainless steel aesthetically pleasing but it is extremely durable, low maintenance, stain resistant and does not discolour or fade over time.

Prevention/Protection

The level of care your stainless steel furniture requires will largely depend on the environment it is placed into, for example furniture placed in a coastal environment or a place with high humidity will require a more frequent cleaning. Regularly wiping down with a microfibre cloth to remove any cloudy build-up is suggested.

Be sure fingerprints and mild stains are easy to remove with a variety of stainless steel cleaning products available from supermarkets and hardware stores.

Cleaning

  1. Wash the furniture with warm soapy water using a clean, soft cloth or sponge.
  2. Wipe in one direction following the original lines in the polish.
  3. Rinse well with clean water to remove the entire detergent residue - it will leave streaks and a rainbow-coloured discolouration.

It’s important to avoid heavy cleaning with harsh chemicals such as bleach or tools such as steel wool and metallic scrapers; these will damage the integrity of the stainless steel.
